Walkabout: Celebrating World Culture this Sunday 1/24/10 at the Phoenix Art Museum

Come visit me Sunday at the Phoenix Art Museum. I will be there demonstrating how to make handmade books with Noel from Sassy Bee Designs. There will be many other artists on hand demonstrating a variety of art mediums and techniques. Many of the artists presenting on Sunday are also Conspire member artists. Walkabout: Celebrating World Culture

Discover global cultures, national customs and local traditions at Phoenix Art Museum's second annual Walkabout! This fantastic one-day event features the sights and sounds of several continents and showcases the Museum's extensive collection of art from around the globe.

From hands-on, kid-friendly activities to delicious samples of traditional dishes and a dazzling array of entertainers, Walkabout offers the whole family an amazing multicultural experience.

Bring the kids and join us for a terrific line-up of fantastic indoor and outdoor happenings:
-Heart-pumping performances by the wildly popular dance troupe, FootKlan, as seen on So You Think You Can Dance
-Savory ethnic specialties created by Breadfruit, Café Lalibela, Gallo Blanco, India Palace, Ruffinos Italian Cuisine and Sens Asian Tapas and Sake, beverages from Honest Tea and Pop the Soda Shop, and fabulous desserts from Arcadia Farms at Phoenix Art Museum
-Awe-inspiring musical and dance performances by more than 10 of the Valley's most talented individuals and groups
-Spraygraphic.com artist demonstrations featuring Conspire Collective, a group of local artists with extremely diverse talents including puppet making, wood carving, jewelry making, screen printing, book making, coffee making, live painting and construction sewing
-Costume clad photos with Mr. Fun Booth. Get silly and play dress-up in cultural costumes from Easley's Costume Shop. You will be able to download your photo online after the event!
-Dozens of interactive and educational activities and displays, including a movie. Stroll through the Museum and enjoy at your own pace.
-Traditional Henna provided by the India Association

Conspire Two Year Party

Conspire and the 5th St. Neighborhood are coming together to celebrate 2 years of Art, Crafts, Fashion, Coffee, and Community! A Full Day Art Festival with Music, Bands, Poetry, Performances, A Fashion Showing, Artists and Crafters Displaying Handmad...e Goods, Kids Crafts Area, Food, and more. Conspire will be celebrating in the spirit of Dias De Los Muertos, with lot's of Day of the Dead inspired arts and crafts, on display throughout October and November. More info to come. New Times: Best of Phoenix 2009 Wonderland Art Show

New Times Best of Phoenix Wonderland Art Show

Check out my new art piece in the September 24 issue of the New Times Best of Phoenix 2009. It is in the magazine and will be on display in October at the Merz Project, in the show Wonderland: Art from New Times Best of Phoenix 2009. The opening is October 2, from 6-10pm and again on Third Friday, October 16. It will be a fun filled night of art and entertainment with over 50 local artists showing their work, inspired by the theme Phoenix as your Wonderland. Plus musical performances by Psych 101, The Coitus, and The Phoenix Chorale performing a cappella.
